Musical of Musicals

With a title like “The Musical of Musicals: The Musical”, who better to build the show’s set than Gary Musick Productions’ Scenic Department? We were honored to work with our friends at freeFall Theatre Company in St. Petersburg, FL in building the set for their season’s finale show.

A Tribute Worthy of Attention

Designed by Sean McLelland and built by Gary Musick Scenic, with lighting design by our very own Tom Hansen, the project involved over 260 hours of work from initial concept development to final delivery on-site at the theatre. Under the direction of the project’s lead carpenter, GMP’s Jazz Zelley, the design featured a living room design, complete with windows, stairs and doors. With a plot summarized by the theatre as “I can't pay the rent! You must pay the rent! I'll pay the rent! From this humble, classic American plot come not one, not three but FIVE musical adaptations as though they were written by five of the most influential musical theatre writers or writing teams of all time…This hilarious musical pays loving tribute to the traditions of musical theatre while mercilessly lampooning them to shreds”, the musical first premiered Off-Broadway in 2003 at the York Theatre in New York City.
